Carsten Dürer, born in 1963 Germany, has long played an active piano, sang in choirs and played in various orchestras and chamber music ensembles with the viola, before he decided to study musicology, Germanic and Library Science at the University of Cologne. While still a student, he discovered his love of journalism and worked for various newspapers from 1984 as a reviewer for all major music magazines in the classical music area as well as for broadcasting as a freelance journalist. After graduation, he became chief editor of two parallel media, which he supervised for many years.

In 1994 he founded the Staccato-Verlag, in the 1997 "Piano News - The Magazine for piano and grand piano” appears that conducts Carsten Dürer as publisher and editor in chief. Since 2003, the same publisher also appears "ENSEMBLE - Chamber Music Magazine," which also founded and directs Carsten Dürer. In addition to these trade magazines, the company relocated well as biographies, reprints and valuable educational books on piano.

In addition to his journalistic activities Carsten Dürer also writes program booklet texts, booklet texts, holds concert talks and lectures for students and always sits on juries of international piano and chamber music competitions. 

In addition, Carsten Dürer is board member of the European Chamber Music Teachers Association (ECMTA), the Anton Rubinstein Academy and Chairman of the "Musical Bridges" and belongs to the jury of the Echo Klassik, the German Record Prize for classical music.
